- Great Idea; It Just Won't Work As Designed Review by debbie
Fast forwarding, I got the kit out to once again rationalize how I could get this thing to work for me. Going on line I found a store about 130 miles from my house that is a dealer for Aquamira, Water Basics, Frontier, and Divvy. I got all excited because I thought finally I will find someone who can tell me why this pump kit isn't working and may be able to fix it for me. I called and was connected to an individual who is the "go to" guy when people's pumps break down. The store is located in Amish country so I'm sure he has had a lot of experience dealing with water pumps of all sizes. He agreed to see me so I drove down to the store.
When I arrived I was prepared with a bucket, the jug, both kits ..... the whole nine yards minus the water. I showed him exactly how I was assembling the pieces, how I was operating the pump, showed him the instructions and asked him if there was something I was doing wrong. After assessing everything, here is his conclusion and I share this because if I am having difficulty with this filtration pump kit, others have to be experiencing the same issues as well.
He said the problem is that the amount of water that is being drawn up by the plunger is now having to find its way through a coiled hose, then the water is being forced through a small opening into a filter which is further slowing the water down, then the water is trying to be forced out through an even tinier hole to get to the jug (and yes, the barb is off). He said there is more water in the pump then what can comfortably flow, without backing up to release the pressure, I.E. the leaking, to eventually find its way to the jug. There's too much pressure trying to be compressed into too small an area hence that's why the pump at the output area is leaking and that's why it takes so long to fill a container. 15 minutes? (I hope I described this accurately so that it makes sense.)
I really like this system, think the concept is a terrific idea, I have invested a lot of money into it, but as it is currently constructed, it won't work. If the company wasn't located across the country from where I am, I'd either fly out or drive out to see them so this frustrating issue can be remedied. (Posted on 10/12/16)
